Liberation is the best medicine, the only cure
Liberation is the best medicine, the only cure.

"I question and I think about what are the root causes of people's disease and suffering and illness. Actually, for many people around the world, it is the structural impacts of colonialism, capitalism, and imperialism. But, Palestinians, from Palestine and in the diaspora, have been bringing the alarm bells for generation, for decades, for their liberation because their liberation is the best medicine.
Last year when I was working in primary care clinics in central Rafah, I look after young children who are no longer walking because of severe malnutrition, children that should have been walking by their developmental milestones but were not walking because of severe malnutrition. There are so many children with gastrointestinal infections or hepatitis A infections that did not have the capacity or the reserve to heal. People need nutritious food, clean water, decent shelter, all of which is being systematically withheld or destroyed by the Israeli military.
From what I saw in the clinics with my own eyes, because there were no functional clinics or hospital for a doctor or nurse to see this patient die in front of them, they don't get counted.
Charity or humanitarian aid alone is not the solution.
There's a complete misnomer in what's happening with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. This is scarce amounts of food aid being delivered by American mercenaries, coordinated with the Israelis. And hundreds of people are being massacred, sometimes on a daily basis, for just trying to get some food to feed their families after surviving 21 months of overt genocide. On the background of a preexsisting siege and blockade on the Gaza Strip, on the background of an occupation, on the background of this colonization that began in 1948, with the ongoing Nakba.
So, I'm thinking about my colleagues in Palestine, in Gaza all the time. What they're going through is indescribable.
That's why we are here. But we have to keep strecthing it. Escalating what we can do from the outside to put that pressure where it's necessary, so that the Palestinian people of Gaza can live. As they have the full right to self-determination, liberation, as any peoples in this world, especially people who are indigenous to their land.
We have the power to show the world what is possible with everyday, ordinary people. And what we can do in this moment is to continue to build that movement, so may we see a liberated Palestine for Palestinians, from the river to the sea, within our lifetimes."
