Highlights from Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naeem Qassem’s sermon on the occasion of Arbaeen (15 August 2025) 1/2:

Imam al-Hussain (AS), established the foundations of the true religion, steadfastness, dignity, and the preparation for the Master of the Age, restoring religion to its correct path — practically, behaviorally, in governance, leadership, and administration.

Dignity belongs to God, His Messenger, and the believers — those who do not bow to falsehood or deviation, no matter what.

This dignity and this stance, paved the way for the appearance of Imam al-Mahdi after the believers have been tried, sifted, endured difficult and complex stages, and faced challenges, so that relief may come.

We are between two choices — to be with Hussain or to be with Yazid… In our age, our choice is to be with the Hussain of this time… and against the Yazid of today — embodied in the American tyrant, the zionist tyrant, "israeli" aggression, and all who walk that path.

Today’s resistance is the product of the school of Karbala, the banner that will be handed to the Master of the Age.

Our victory is a divine victory because God aided us despite the smallness of our numbers and equipment, and despite the large number united against us.

The July 2006 victory established deterrence against "israel" for seventeen years.

We recall the role of the inspiring leader, the master of the martyrs of the Ummah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, may God be pleased with him — who led this war with might, courage, trust in God Almighty, and belief in certain victory.

Alongside him were Imad, Fouad, Karaki, Aqil, and Ahmad — following the path of Sheikh Ragheb, Sayyid Abbas, Sayyid Hashem, Sheikh Nabil, the fighters, the wounded, the prisoners, and our honorable people. This leadership was able to change the equation.

Thanks to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which supported us with money, weapons, capabilities, media and political stances; which stood by us, offered martyrs — Haj Qassem, may God be pleased with him, and other martyrs — in this land far from theirs, but close to their hearts, their love, their faith, and their support for truth.

They were all by our side and still are until now, and God willing, this banner, the banner of resistance will remain raised.

In July 2006 we achieved victory for Palestine, for it is one battle. Our victory is their victory, our blood is their blood. A victory for Palestine over the enemy of humanity: "israel" and its patron America.

Everyone must know that Palestine will remain the compass. Whatever "israel" does today — from starving, killing, and destroying the people of Gaza and the Palestinian people — and whatever America does in sponsoring this dangerous deviation, this vile, aggressive, sinful assault — it will not deter the Palestinian people from continuing, from strength, from maintaining the resistance.

I say again, as the great leaders before and with me have said: Palestine will be victorious, with all these sacrifices — for they are the rightful owners of the land, the cause, the will, the blood, and the giving. This is the law of life: that victory will be theirs. And God willing, we will remain together, always together.

Resistance is honor, dignity, patriotism, sovereignty. Resistance offers martyrdom and does not need official certificates, nor recognition from the arrogant, nor from anyone.

It is the resistance that liberated Lebanon’s sovereign independent choice.

The Lebanese government’s decision on August 5 means facilitating the killing of resistance fighters and their families, and expelling them from their land and homes.

This government is implementing the American-"israeli" order to end the resistance; even if it leads to civil war and internal strife.

Do not be afraid. Do not fear them, they are cowards, incapable. They know they will lose everything if they destroy Lebanon. Stop living in this intimidation, claiming you are preserving Lebanon. You are not preserving Lebanon, you are preserving your own lives and positions, even if it means eliminating your partners in the country. Is this partnership? Is this patriotism?

If you feel incapable, and you are, then leave the enemy to face us. Do not confront on our behalf. Just be silent, sit aside, and leave us be.

Netanyahu declared he wants "Greater israel" meaning all of Palestine, parts of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. He says it now in the intoxication of "victory" and in the overwhelming American support for this tyrant.

Some Arab states wish not even to condemn, but simply to remain silent, at least not to secretly support "israel" by attacking the resistance and aiding in striking it.

In any case, the government has taken a very dangerous decision, violating the Charter of National Coexistence, exposing the country to a major crisis.

The legitimacy of the resistance comes from blood, liberation, right, and land — not from you, and it does not need you.

We have postponed protests… but if it is imposed on us, we are ready for it, and we have no choice but to face it.

The resistance will not hand over its weapons while aggression continues and occupation remains, and we will wage a Karbala-like battle if necessary and we are confident we will win this battle. And proclaim never to humiliation!

Either it remains and we remain together, or farewell to everything. And you will bear the responsibility.
